staying in for another night in a world for someone else i cut some slack to get enough rope to hang myself gonna set some fires in a parking lot to prove that i'm still here we gotta strike now while that irons hot or we could just grab some beers but i cant run like that anymore gonna stay up late though i shouldn't now the better half went home gonna wake up tired now i just know it and it chills me to the bone i don't get up she don't sit down and her movie screen's all torn like that dream i have every christmas eve since the day that i was born and i'll keep it short cause i just want to see your pretty face and i won't look back cause i'm not sure i can keep this awful pace yeah don't be scared of a thousand lights as you walk out of this place yeah don't be scared this way take a bus or a pony ride take a cab or train i'll start the walk you'll find me there sittin' in the rain say my name in the softest way you'll never have to shout i'll raise my head and i'll say to you babe i got us out.

kyle stepped up to the bar and he said yeah there's still all these thoughts floating around in my head get a big glass of whiskey i'll drink it right there but don't be surprised when i fall down the stairs i'm feeling sad he said i'm feeling sober a backpack of beer and i'm coming right over stayed at my place for an hour no more when my roommates came home we were drunk on the floor my friend kyle's a soul sucking man with a dream in his heart and a beer in his hand he's an old fashioned guy and he won't make a sound but the whole party stops when kyle's around kyle passed out on my couch at a dance he had two big black eyes and he'd pissed in his pants he woke up and looked up at me with some fear i said kyle don't worry i'm just glad you're here kyle won't listen no kyle won't learn kyle won't flicker 'cause kyle just burns kyle is trouble and he was from the start but kyle's got dreams and he's got a big heart

the worst halloween i ever had was born in the fog and the rain and the black and the green and the sad video games and video screens i'll video you in the cold with a smile if you video me heading out late to some party i guess so unfamiliar with everyone there try not to make a mess walking inside there seven kids i've never seen two or three bottles of scotch on the table and misery don't mess around in the dark with these goth kids i know they don't look straight blood on the walls and the carpet and blood in the snow blood on her face there was a lull in the talk for a minute or two this one girl stood up and screamed "i'm hurting how about you?" she ran from the room slammed a drawer with a thud said "you can't tell me i'm no good and not expect a little blood" she sliced at her arm with the seven inch blade everything went red then as she started to fade rushing outside there colder than sin quiet around me all of a sudden snowflakes on my skin well i grabbed one of those bottles and i started to walk away looked back at that house one last time and i started to say "don't mess around in the dark with these goth kids i know they don't look straight blood on the walls and the carpet and blood in the snow blood on her face"
